Personal protection is everyone’s responsibility for yourself and your family.  An increasing number of people are choosing to protect themselves with a permit to carry a concealed pistol.  The state of Michigan will grant concealed pistol licenses to applicants that have attended mandatory gun training, and this the class that meets the requirements to apply for your concealed pistol license (CPL / CCW).

What to Expect In Our CPL Class

Class starts promptly at 9am and you will be greeted with fresh coffee (regular and Michigan Cherry) and a wide variety of snacks that are accessible all day.  You will receive multiple breaks throughout the day, including a period for lunch.

Instruction will begin with a brief introduction followed by basic firearms instruction and defensive use of firearms that takes place through two segments. This will focus on firearms operation, grip, stance, trigger control, sight alignment, and correction of common marksmanship mistakes.  After these segments, I will set up an in class virtual range where we will go through all the shooting drills covered in the live fire segment.

Live fire takes place at “The Firing Line” gun range where you will qualify for the shooting portion by firing 50 rounds of live ammo. Immediately after the live fire segment, you will receive a minimum of 30 minutes to get lunch and we will meet back at the classroom to continue your training.

After lunch we will cover keeping yourself safe in public and in your home and most importantly, keeping yourself safe from an aggressive prosecutor! Finally, we will go over how to apply for your CPL, renewals, everyday police encounters, pistol free zones and much more…

You will need writing pad and pen/pencil and your pistol you intend to use for the range. Your pistol should be in a case and unloaded for transportation in your vehicle.  Absolutely no ammunition in class, please. You can use any caliber pistol for this class. Bring any snacks or drinks you may want throughout the day. Coffee is provided for free, and there are other beverages available for purchase from the range.  We normally order pizza for lunch, so if you want something different make sure to pack a lunch.  Handgun rentals are available for the class, so you don’t need to own your own gun.  If you do not already own a pistol, renting is a great way to find out what you like or what fits your needs best.
